SUBJECT:                   Spring Update

 

Well parents, we are in the middle of our busy season again.  I just wanted to update you with latest information.

 

Tuesday, March 11                  Mandatory Final Rehearsal for Festival 5-8

                                   

Wednesday, March 12             Festival @ Jamestown HS

                                                Students will be dismissed from class @ 9:00am

                                                Ladies will need black pantyhose, pearl earrings, and pearl

Necklace & Gentlemen will need white plain undershirt and black socks.  All students will need to bring a bag lunch.  Our performance time is 12:30pm.  Please feel free to come out and support our band.

 

Thursday, March 13                 Pep Band needed for girl’s basketball game.  The kids will

                                                need to wear their warm up suits and black band shirts.  We

                                                are limited to 15 students.  Jazz Band will be the first to be

asked to perform.  Students will stay after school and rehearse on Wednesday.  They will need to bring money for dinner.  We will be leaving BHS at 3:00.  The game will be in Richmond.  Estimate return time will be 10:30pm

 

Friday,  March 14                    CAFÉ Night  6:30-9:30

Students will need to wear 80’s clothes during the day to

                                                advertise.   Each child will need to sell their pre-sale tickets

                                                prior to Thursday.  If your child is on the decoration

                                                committee they need to be there at 2:00.  Everyone else will

                                                need to be here at 5:00pm.  If you are a parent and helping,

                                                please report by 5:30pm.  Also, Mrs. Raposa will need

                                                some toppings for ice cream sundaes.  Please donate.  All

                                                band members will need to stay to help clean up. 

 

March 17-20                            Pit Orchestra Rehearsal            5-8

 

March 24                                 Pit Orchestra 9-3

 

March 25-29                            Pit Orchestra rpt. 5:30pm

 

April 11-12                              Music in the Parks

                                                The sign up list will go up on April 1

 

 

April 18                                    International Tattoo at the Norfolk Scope.  We still have

                                                some tickets available.  If you would like to come, the cost

will be $25.00.  All students are expected to dress professionally at this event. 

 

 

Other Information:

 

We will be taking some much need full band down time in March.  The students will be expected to prepare a solo or and ensemble.  We will have a formal recital in April.  Please be sure that your child is practicing their piece.  This will be a major test grade.

 

Zapp A Snack fundraiser will kick off today March 10.  We need to sell over 300 items.  35% of the profits will go into the student accounts for the spring trip or band fees.  Checks should be payable to BHS BAND.  The orders and the money are due March 27.  If there are any parents who can help collect the orders that would be greatly appreciated. 

 

 

Spring Trip~ At this time you should have $275.00 in your child’s account.  I have sent out a letter that asked if there are any special rooming situations that I need to be aware of at this time.  Please let me know if you have any special situations, otherwise, I will assume that you would like to room 4 people to a room.
