Cary Matthews first picked up a flag when she was
twelve years old and has extensive experience in color
guard technique, choreography, show design, dance, and instruction that she is excited to share with Bruton's band program.  Cary spent four years on the Tabb High School color guard and graduated as the group's rifle line captain.  She went on to march with CarolinaCrown Drum and Bugle Corps' sabre line in 1996.  She continued with flag, rifle, and sabre performance for
two seasons with Revelation Winter Guard in 1998 and
1999.  Cary also founded the color guard program at
Grafton High School and served as the choreographer
and director of the outdoor and indoor guards.  In
addition, Cary has training in ballet and modern
dance.

Cary graduated from the College of William and Mary
with a degree in Government in 1999.  She also earned
a Masters in International Affairs from George
Washington University in 2002.  She speaks both French
and Arabic.  Cary currently resides in Arlington,
Virginia where she is a research analyst specializing
in national security issues with Northrop Grumman
Mission Systems.
